Are unmarried couples and local IDs welcome at Ocean Palms Goa?

A plain yes on unmarried couples and Goa-address IDs, plus what to bring to check-in, what foreign and OCI guests need, and which rooms suit couples.

In short

Yes to both. Unmarried couples are welcome at Ocean Palms Goa, and IDs showing a Goa address are accepted, as our FAQs state. Photo ID is compulsory at check-in, and the guest checking in must be at least 18.

Yes to both. Ocean Palms Goa is a couple-friendly hotel in Calangute in the plainest sense: unmarried couples are welcome, and so are guests whose ID shows a Goa address. You don't need to be married to share a room, so there is no marriage certificate or proof of relationship to bring, and living a short drive away is no barrier to booking.

It's a fair thing to ask, because couple policies vary between hotels in India and some ask couples for proof of their relationship at check-in. Goans planning a night away ask the same about local IDs, which is why both answers sit in our FAQs. What does apply here is routine: photo ID at check-in, a minimum check-in age of 18 and, for foreign nationals, an immigration form the hotel must file.

What to bring to check-in

Photo ID is compulsory at check-in under government regulations, and the guest checking in must be at least 18. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, and to keep things simple, have each adult carry their own. Official orders in North Goa have named a voter ID card, a driving licence, an Aadhaar card and a passport as examples of proof of identity.

If you want to be certain which documents will be accepted for your booking, or whether both of you need to show one, ask our Reservations team before you travel. They are on +91 88 8888 4709 and reservations@oceanpalmsgoa.com from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Why hotels in North Goa ask for ID

Checking ID in North Goa is not simply a house preference. The District Magistrate has issued orders, including in November 2025 and again in January 2026, directing hotels, lodges, guest houses and other accommodation across the district to verify the identity of each person before they stay. The same orders ask for a guest verification form for every guest, sent to the local police station for verification and record.

Each order runs for a fixed period (the November 2025 order for 60 days) and has been reissued, so the exact paperwork in force can change from one season to the next. Our own rule stays the same: photo ID at check-in, for every booking. It applies to everyone, married or not, local or visiting, so being asked for ID says nothing about your relationship.

For Goa residents: your local ID is accepted

A Goa address on your ID is accepted, so a staycation in Calangute needs no more paperwork than any other booking. The resort is 13 km from Panaji, and parking for cars and bikes is free, subject to space. Staying guests have the outdoor pool from 10 AM to 8 PM and 15% off treatments at the Coral Spa.

If you want some life in the evenings, come between Thursday and Sunday, when The Terra, our poolside restaurant and bar, has live bands, DJs or shows from 7:30 to 10 PM. One house rule is worth knowing before you pack the car: outside food and drinks aren't allowed at the resort.

Which room suits a couple?

Every room has a balcony and includes breakfast, so the choice comes down to space and what you'd like on that balcony. For honeymoons and romantic trips, our own FAQ suggests the Pool View Room with Jacuzzi or the Sky Villa.

Junior Suites, Suites and Pool View Rooms also come with a ₹500 food credit at The Terra, and the Sky Villa with ₹1,000. There are only eight Pool View Rooms and one Sky Villa, so book early if you have your heart set on either. All six types are side by side on our rooms page.

  • Superior Room, 230 sq ft: a king bed and a private balcony with seating, looking over the village.
  • Premium Room, 230 sq ft: a king bed or twin beds, a smart TV and a sofa cum bed, with a balcony over the countryside.
  • Pool View Room with Jacuzzi, 403 sq ft: a private jacuzzi on a balcony overlooking the pool.
  • Junior Suite with Bathtub, 471 sq ft: a freestanding bathtub and a dining area.
  • Suite, 470 sq ft: a separate living room and two private balconies.
  • Sky Villa, 600 sq ft: butler service, a private jacuzzi with a partial sea view, a private garden, and free airport pick-up and drop.

Visiting from abroad, or travelling on an OCI card

If you are not an Indian citizen, the hotel must ask for your details and your signature on arrival, and send them online to the immigration authorities within 24 hours. The form is Form III, still widely called Form C, under the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, which sit under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, in force since 1 September 2025. The Bureau of Immigration states that OCI cardholders, previously exempt, are now included.

Bring your passport, plus your visa details or your OCI card. The form records your name as it appears in your passport, your nationality, your passport and visa or OCI numbers, where you arrived from, the purpose of your visit and your next destination, with a space for a photograph. When you leave, the hotel also records your departure time and where you are heading. Form III covers foreign nationals only, so if one of you is an Indian citizen, it is filed for the other partner alone.

Payment, timings and cancellations

Full payment is taken when you book, by card, UPI or net banking. Cancelling is free up to 48 hours before check-in; after that, and for no-shows, the full booking value is charged. Bookings for 21 December to 3 January are non-refundable and can't be changed, so book those dates once your plans are firm. The cancellation policy has the full wording.

Check-in is from 2 PM and check-out is by 11 AM, and the front desk is open 24 hours. If your flight doesn't fit those times, luggage storage is free before check-in and after check-out. Early check-in and late check-out depend on availability on the day, and our guide to early check-in and late check-out explains how to ask.

Questions guests ask

I'm an NRI with an Indian passport. Does Form C apply to me?

No. Form III, the new name for Form C, is filed for foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders. As an Indian citizen, you check in like any other Indian guest, with a valid photo ID such as your Indian passport.

We live in Goa. Can we bring our dog for a staycation?

Not at present. Ocean Palms Goa does not permit pets, so plan for your dog to stay at home.

Can we smoke in our room?

Not indoors. Smoking is allowed only on private balconies and in designated outdoor areas, and it is prohibited inside rooms and indoor public areas.

Is anything included if we're celebrating a birthday or anniversary?

Yes. A celebration cake for a birthday or an anniversary comes with every room category, so mention the occasion when you book.

Can you collect us from the airport?

Yes, at an extra charge: ₹1,900 one way in a four-seater air-conditioned car, plus ₹500 between 6 PM and 8 AM. Pick-up and drop are complimentary with the Sky Villa.
